I hit an underwater log and destroyed my lower unit on my 1997 Mercury 150 Black Max. I got an estimate from a local marina on the lake to replace the lower unit with a Mercury replacement for $2500 including labor. I have taken it to another mercury dealer who charged my insurance company $3500 for replacing the lower unit. Any ideas why such a descrepency.

HeHeHe I've been wondering about them. Looks like I elicited an opinion.

Thanks
