LOL, I thought she ran OK unloaded, but then again I have nothing to compare it with. I have it pretty loaded down I guess, I've added some storage conpartments, ( made with 3/8" plywood.) 2 large batteries, anchor, trolling motor, and all my fishing gear.
I see back in the begenning of this thread Jestor recomended a 10' pitch prop too,(that's three total I think.) guess I should have gone with that. (Sorry guys I didn't dought your words, I just didn't really want to do the "go through a bunch of props until it's right thing".)
I will get a Solas Amita # 5211-099-10 ( 9-9/10 X 10). And report back.

Re: Replacement prop, Honda 25

I just replaced my prop on my 2002 25hp Honda. The manufacture had a 235x305 & 9-1/4x12 prop. When running the boat by myself, it ran okay with a moderate to good hole shot, when loaded, it took forever, After hitting a rock, i changed my prop to a 9 9/10 x 10. The hole shot is great and top end is 23 mph. I am very impressed with my new prop.

Re: Replacement prop, Honda 25

Installed the new prop (9-9/10 X 10). Tested with half load ( Only two guys & gear) I got 24mph @ 5500rpm. The whole shot is much better also!
A question, the motor's sound seems to have changed, I noticed it a little bit with the first replacement (9-9/10 X 12) mostly on deceleration. It seems more pronounced now & not just on deceleration with the new (9-9/10 X 10). The noise in question sounds like a vibration, I think??? Any ideas?

I think the power pulses are farther apart with a 4 stroke the more powerful 10" prop makes the pulses more obvious.
Just a theory.

Very well could be the case. To be sure I pulled the prop & checked that the thrust washer was right & checked for any places that looked like it was rubbing, all looked good.

Re: Replacement prop, Honda 25

if if helps,, i have noticed a noise/chirp/whine in my 25hp honda engine at different rpm's as well after changing to 9 9/10 x 10. it happens during acceleration and deceleration but not present all the time.

whole shot improved and wot is 25mph with half load. both are improvements

the noise could be considered a vibration

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but it has great information. I have a honda bf25d on a 1998 gregor 15' aluminum mx510 sportsman. With just me in the boat I can hit 27 mph (gps) trimmed. I want better performance when loaded and was wondering which prop I should buy. I do use the motor to troll (trolling plate) with. I'm not looking for top speed, but to get on plane faster. I'm not sure if I should stay with the 3 blade and change pitch or go to a 4 blade?
