Re: replacement rectifier

This one should do the trick and it'll likely be more efficient than the one on your good ol' Merc:

You'll just have to come up with a mounting point for the rectifier since it's a bit different configuration from the old one.

But the hookup is the same, (2) wires from the stator and the (hot) red battery wire.

Are you sure? It lists for newer motors than mine and for square ones also.
Does it make a difference if mine is round?

Re: replacement rectifier

Your rectifier is the early style and the small square one that is shown is a direct replacement for it. In some cases it requires the wire ends to be changed and mounting holes drilled.

Re: replacement rectifier

As a matter of fact, I DID attempt to find a rectifier on this site and the first page that came up was a screaming ad for the Mallory equivalent rectifier on sale, when I clicked on that it was out of stock! So much for this site. And the sale price was $3 more than the Sierra part's price on Boatfix.com.

I won't intentionally lead folks away from here but if iBoats is not gonna be competitive in pricing or at least have the parts in stock, I'm not gonna feel bad about linking to someone who does.

How about helping the the site that helps you out with a little business. http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...poid=111782&gd_row=1&**********=321679574site

i find it highly distasteful, that someone uses this free site and then sends people to other sites to buy stuff.

It all depends on what the site is able to sell. It's nice if you want something for the newer boats. they can keep more things in stock for them. But as for me, they don't have or even list most things for my classic boat or motor. I can't wish for them to have it just because I use their forum. what am I supposed to do? I have tried to buy stuff for my boats here, but they just don't have it. And if and when they do, if it's at a decent price, I will, as long as it's within a reasonable price difference.

These forums are for sharing ideas and info, not to guilt people into buying their stuff. And you should be ashamed at your position on this trivial matter.
