Replacement side controls OMC

Johnson 70hp starts every time, but not going properly into forward. Cable has bit of play so replacement on order.
However——-when stripped controller side , found the plastic part teeth have worn down, even found splinters in the unit. Can anyone recommend a proper replacement as it’s 89 engine with red engine harness

Have you looked for replacement parts? I have a 1976 Johnson control unit and was able to find parts for it. So maybe a few new parts and you would be good to go... Just an idea.

Managed to get full replacement parts from Llyn Marine Services.
All good and back in the water

the cables all have slack brand new. thats why the service manual has a whole procedure to install them correctly to eliminate backlash.
