Hi I'm just starting a transom repacement and this is my first large project on my 1985 Imperial boat. And this is also my first post and I've got about that much experience on the computer so hang in there. I bought the boat new and take very good care of it. I live near Cleveland so I've always stored it inside foe the winters and most were heated. I have always trailered it and for the past 10 years only take it out about 6 times a year and its stored in my heated barn. Enough of the history. I started to repair my loose floor in March and found that it was only nailed down and the nails had pulled up so I used stainless screws and fiberglass to hold it down. That's when I found the soft spots around the lower part of the transom. I had someone remove the outdrive and motor to save me time. I'm better at wood working than motors. the transom came out in about 6 hours from the inside of my i/o. I opened up a little of the floor around the stringers and it was damp but no rot. i was wondering what type of resin would be best to repair with Poly or epoxy. and I've seen talk about foam insulation does anyone use expanding foam in the can why or why not. Any tips are welcome. Thank from a newbe
