Any suggestions or guidance on replacing the alternator belt?
The front motor mount/trim motor mount bolts to the block on each and the belt needs to go around it. If I remove the mount I am afraid that the motor will want to tilt down and I wont be able to raise it to get it back on. There is no room in the bilge area for a jack or i would do that.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The best bet would be to get in a garage or under a tree to lift the motor.
Use a come along or heavy ratchet strap.
Put 2 belts on while you are at it and tie the spare back out of the way.
That way next time you just cut the bad belt off and your spare is ready to go on.

Ayuh,...

You should be able to take the Spacer Block out of the Portside of the mount, by removing Just the Portside bolts...
As long as you don't loosen the Starboard side bolts,...
Everything will stay where it is...

No spacer block on a omc. Just a thin shim. 3.0 mercs have the spacer block.

I didn't use the front mount off the 140 has the spacer.

Ok this is what i do.

Will take 2 people one person levers the port side with a pipe and the other removing the bolts on the port side of the motor.

Also the 2 bolts on the starboard side must be backed out a inch or inch and a half.

And i also tie a spare belt around the mount so if a belt does go all you need is a 1/2 flat wrench and a piece of pipe to lever the alternator so the belt gets tight.
