Replacing deck/floor how thick ply do I need

Hi am replacing the floor/deck in the cockpit area of my 17ft motor boat (shetland 535) how thick plywood do you recommend I use?

Whatever the thickness is that you remove is the thickness you should replace it with.

There I no floor to copy the boat is a project and the floor had been stripped out before I bought it

Is she aluminum or fiberglass?

In that case it would help if we could see some pics of it, and we'll need to know what your plans are to rebuild it.

1/2" is the norm when the decking is supported by expanding urethane floatation foam, if you don't plan to support it with foam 5/8" would be a minimum and 3/4" would be best.

The Shetland 535 is a very cool looking boat!

1/2" cover with glass and foam support below should work fine. Send some pics so we can drool. :)

Thanks everyone you have all been very helpfull I'm good to go.

I can't upload any pictures at the moment because there is no option to do so on my phone and I'm away from a PC for the next week or so but I will upload some pictures of my progress in the near future
