Not sure yet. I'm runnin a bit behind schedule on the project. What have you decided on?

hi bud......sorry it has taken so long to get back to you....

if the mount is wet....you will have to pull the motor and change the mount.

for some strange reason, that is still a wood stringer boat, so the glass is not structural, it is just there to encapsulate the wood.

if you were able to dry the wood out completely, then you could inject anti freeze into the wood then re dry it and re glass it.

but drying the mount will take weeks.....then the injection and drying will take more time.

you are far better off to pull the motor...do the mount and anything else there that is wet then re glassing.

pulling the motor is very very easy.
undo the 2 pins at the back of the transom plate....the front mount.....the fuel line...the exhaust the main power cable and a few grounds...and out it comes.

just make note of the current mount height and duplicate that.

cheers
oops

Oops,
Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay in mine! Last weekend I was traveling and every day this week I had afternoon showers to deal with. This is going a bit slower than I hoped. The next two weeks I will be out of town on travel too (ugh). With that said, I was able to cut the glass off the top of the engine mount on the right side. The wood was dry! So since I've been slow moving on this it appears the left side really dried out also (over a week and a half of open air). The only part of the engine mount I havent cut the glass off of is the middle where the metal bracket sits on the wood. My question is since I will be out of town for two weeks, and pulling the engine is not my first choice, what can I do to ensure the wood is completely dry when I return? How would I inject anti-freeze and what type of anti-freeze would I use?

Thanks again,
Jason

What is the best way to restore the wet pad under the tank? Cut it away from the stringer and glass in a new one? Has anyone else seen these waterlogged?

Jaybeava,

I left that area well alone for fear i might go to deep. The way i figured, water will be tunneling through this area often anyways. For me, i felt like i could live with it.

With it being exposed to the sun, is it still soaked?

Also, I know this may sound crazy, but can you upload this picture again marking where the edge of your deck went. not trying to hijack your thread but I am having issues putting down my deck and your boat is almost exactly like mine '96 1952. I cant remember where the edge of the deck should go.

this is an old picture but I marked the areas as 1 and 2.

I haven't been able to get out to the boat but I can definitely measure tomorrow and send ya some info. I'll be checking on my antifreeze application tomorrow also.
