Replacing floor question

Hello. New here. I was referred to this site by a friend. Nice place.
I did a search and found a couple of answers to my question but not specific enough, so here goes.
I have a 16ft-1974 easyrider fiberglass with a 25 horse Tihatsu. It was pretty much a free offering to me and has worked well over the past 3 years. I will be keeping it for another year before I buy another one(got to get the new house first). The problem is that the fiberglass floor has a couple of problem areas where it has collasped(fist sized areas). The stringers below it are a little rotted but not too bad. I tore out the carpeting and I am entertaining the idea of putting 3/8 plywood(BC) over the floor and painting it(no carpet going back). I would like to use some sort of glue between the wood floor and the fiberglass.
I only fish about 10 times a year in freshwater. Can I do this and what supplies will I need? Like I said I will be getting rid of it in about a year. I will probably use the motor for my new boat but not much else. I just want her to look a little nicer before I put her out to pasture. Thank you...

Re: Replacing floor question

When you get rid of it, will you be hoping to make any money, or will you not care since you paid essentially nothing for it? I can't see why you couldn't lay some 1/2 inch (3/8th is too thin in my opinion), painted on both sides and endgrains with a lot of polyurethane paint, mix some sandplasting medium with the paint for traction on the topside surface, screw it down, seal the edges with marine sealant such as 3M 5200, and fish your brains out.

Re: Replacing floor question

Ok, got the plywood and 3M 5200 sealant. going to get the paint tomorrow and also start cutting floor to measurements. I need to take a couple of 1x4"s and place them between the old fiberglass and new floor to make up some space to make level. any hints on what to use to secure the spacers to the floor? some of these places are a little thin so i won't be able to screw them it, i would have to use an adhesive of some sort. i will also be screwing the wood floor to these after they are secured to make it even more stronger. thanks...
