replacing flywheel on 1990 90HP

ok im back with new question , last week i was in the water fishing and then the motor die so we tried to start it again but nothing then i notice the flywheel is not conected to the shaft and thats why it not firing up anymore , i took the fly wheel off and the key was all missed up and also the grove in the flywheel where the key goes , so i replaced the key and flywheel and even the nut my question is do i need to do any timing again ? which i dont know how , last time i did timing at the marine , its kinda high and smoky .

If you did not mess with the timing tower or the trigger advance plate, the timing should be OK. But it is highly recommended you do a verification using a timing light. Or better yet, read or watch the video on one of the sticky post showing how to do it. If you can loosen or tighten a screw, with this motor you can do the timing, no doubt!

Just be certain the flywheel nut is torqued to 90 foot pounds otherwise you will be replacing another key.

thanks jiggz , i will watch the video and try to do it for the first time .
