I need to replace the fuel sender on my 1985 17 foot Glastron. Do I need to drain the fuel tank in order to replace the sender ?

No not normally, you should have access to the sender and hose connections for the fuel and vent lines. Typically held in with 5 screws and a gasket plus a sender wire.

For extra safety you can disconnect the battery before doing any work.

Changed mine last year. And don't forget to read carefully the instructions about grounding the sender to the tank.

It helps if it's not too full. Just don't fill up before you change it.
