Replacing Oil : Is this lower unit only, or is there an upper crankcase to fill?

Sorry... new to the boating world and outboard motors... so have this basic question on oil replacement. Working on a 1985 Johnson 30 and it hasn't run in a few years. Trying to proactively lubicate as needed. Thanks.

You have a two stroke motor. There is no oil in the crankcase which is why you mix oil with the fuel. Only the lower unit requires annual lube change.

If you can pick up the OEM service manual, or even just the owner's manual, there is a "lubrication" section that shows you exactly where to lubricate, and which lubricants to use, and what the factory schedule for lubrication is.
