Replacing riser gaskets

I replaced the mans and risers (GLM) about a year ago and used the supplied paper type gaskets. One of the riser gaskets is now leaking. I purchased the OEM metal gaskets (3863191) and I don't see where, in the instructions, it says to put the sealing bump up or down. Does it matter?

I am about to do exactly the same thing and was wandering that myself. I was going to assume to lay them flat with the bumps up... but I bet one of these experts will know.....

Doesn't matter. But. if you take them loose after the initial install, they will have to be replaced. NEVER attempt to re-use the metal shim gasket.

Wait a min. What's wrong with reusing the metal spacer? The marina here told me they had to order my gasket set, and I didn't want to wait. I went to Autozone, and got a roll of Felpro rubber-based Gasket material (the blue stuff), and made my own gaskets. I reused the metal plate, and just sealed everything with silicone.

Am I in danger of some tragedy befalling me now? What's going to go wrong with it?
