replacing shift cable in sterndrive - what else to replace??

I'm taking off the sterndrive of my '88 invader mercruiser alpha I for the first time (for me). I'm in Houston so no need to take it off in the winter.<br /><br />The sterndrive was rebuilt 3 years ago when I hit a stump and sheered off the drive shaft. <br /><br />While I'm in there, are there other things I should replace?? I would think maybe I should replace the bellows. Is there anything else that makes sense while I'm in there??<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Dave

At the very least inspect all the bellows and the water hose for cracking and deteriation. Replace as needed, also check gimbe bearing and u joints.
