Hey all - I don't post much, but thanks in advance for all the info I've gleaned for the couple of years I've been trolling the forums. I'm looking to replace my Quicksilver 3000 side-mount throttle in my 2000 Maxum 1900 bowrider. It's seeing way too much play, and the plasticky feel of the handle and such bothers me. I bought a new control already, which I've confirmed will work and will reasonably use the same cutout in the upholstery panel on my boat.
My question, however, is as follows. I've searched high and wide and have only found bit information here and there - How do I get the dang thing off in the first place? I understand now how to remove the control arm itself - remove the set screw from under the throttle, pop off the fast idle cap and remove nut/screw.
It seems the back of the throttle is covered by a plastic box, which I can feel by reaching up under the upholstery. Do I need to remove the side panel from the hull? If I do, what is the method for doing this? I'm used to motor work, not interior stuff!
Pic of the old one I want out!
Thank you!
