Hey friends, I'm about to replace the spark wires on my 1968 650 but I can't find out which spark wire connections I need to connect to the distributor. I'm getting shocked when touching the 50 yr old wires so I think it's time for a replacement!
Can't find it in my SELOC manual or anywhere else so far...

It's a type III ignition that's having misfire issues and leaking fuel out the LU (fuel pumps, carbs and water pump just rebuilt, new plugs, good compression).

Anyone know what I need? I'm afraid to just forcefully pull the wires out in case they're screw type or something else.
Thanks!

Replacing Spark Wires on 1968 Mercury 650 - Which connectors to distributor?

Hey friends, after getting shocked from the original spark wires on my '68 Merc 650 I think it's time for a replacement. Especially in view of some serious misfire issues. Trouble is, I can't find what type of connectors I need at the distributor and I'm afraid to forcefully pull the existing wires out since they're hesitant to come out.

Anyone know what type of connectors I need? Can't seem to find it in my SELOC manual or elsewhere.

Also, any recommendations for wire type would be appreciated. Right now I have a sierra solid copper core 7mm roll but not sure it's best for the job.

Much obliged!

You may find that the wires are screwed into the cap.-----So turn them out.

Thanks, racerone! They were indeed the screw type. All but one of them broke when I removed them, but for 52 year old wires, not bad...

Here are the ends for those who may end up on the same search.
