Replacing stanchion bases

I’ve got a number of these railing bases to replace. This one is not broken but some are and some are just very loose. Once I’ve unscrewed it from the deck, and the other places they’re located, what can I do to the existing holes so that when I screw the new ones in they will be sturdy and solid? Don’t need someone leaning over the railing and falling in because the base pulled out of the deck or walkway. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the wood under the gunnels? Probably rotted.
