Replacing the Bearing Carrier Seal

1991, 4.3L OMC Stern Drive, Model 432APRRGD

How difficult is it to replace the Bearing Carrier Seal? Is this a DIYer project or not? Should the bearings be replaced while replacing the seal on the horizontal shaft?

The seals(2) can be done by anyone with some skill.
Just be sure they are installed the right way.
Manual? A press comes in handy.
If the bearings have ANY rust or you even think they might be dragging???
Then replace.

I do have the original service manual. How do you know when the gear is pressed back on far enough. I know the gears have to mesh properly.

Small bearing has surface rust on it. Need to change bearings and seals?
