It's for my 1983 Johnson 35 hp key start steering wheel driven outboard

Ok so last time I took it out I noticed that it wasent spiting out any water from the tall tail anymore and when I feelt the motor it was steeming hot

I guess I need to replace the water pump and impeller with houseing and all the gaskets is this a hard job I guess I just need some tips and reassurance I'm a auto tech for Midas so I got tools just never worked on an outboard just cars

is there anything ealse I need to replace while it's opened up

Is there anything in there that i can possibly mess up if not done right ??
Thanks for the help

Get the manual and take a look at the step by step and judge for yourself.
I've always wondered if OB's have like an "ALL DATA or Mitchell's"

Here is a link to a water pump job. It may not be exactly the same as yours but the basics are there to review.

Right now I would be equally as concerned with what damage may have been done to the motor from being "Steaming Hot"
Good Luck.

It's not that hard but don't mess around and buy just the impeller.
Get the kit and replace everything in it they are not much more than
just impellers.
