I would like to get some input on repowering from a 1996 130 HP Johnson to a new 115 HP Yamaha 4 stroke.I have a custom built aluminum Deep V that is 18 1/2 feet long,i am not sure of the wieght but it is very heavy.The Johnson looper( where does "looper" come from?)pushes the boat great,;lots of power with a 14 1/2 x 19 prop.
If I got the 115 would it have enough torque to get easily on plane.Top speed is not a concern.This is a commuter boat that goes 1 mile on some rough salt water.
Also does a 4 blade prop help with hole shot torque?
