Re: Reputable Repair Shops near Nashville, TN
ezeke- Will do. I think he is who told me it was the jets on the forum.
Outlaw-
94 200 Johnson Venom. Rebuilt everything, bored all over .030, except 1 that was sleeved to standard. There isn't enough adjustment in the carbs to make it run right with the standard jets, the mixture screws are nearly all the way in to get it to run, and it still bogs and you have to use the choke to get it on plane. Once it is on plane it is fine. I uped the jets 2 sizes on idle-intermediate-and high speed . It runs better, but still not right. It gets too rich if you idle for a while and at other times it seems like it is running too lean. All the problems are at idle and intermediate. High speed is fine, although the top speed is about 10mph less than normal. I believe it was Faztbullet that said the problem was the block wasn't decked after it was bored. I called marfab and asked. They said the sleeved side was decked, but not the side that was only bored over.
The reason I ask for a good shop is the last one I took it to did the lync-n-sync again, checked the timing, and adjusted the carbs. It ran fine wide open and got up to normal speed (69 mph), but it couldnt get on plane after idling. It would either bog and die or bog and go. They told me if I have to idle, put it in neutral and rev it up, then put it foreward, and go. They also said my other option was to start it, and go without idling or getting up to temp. That probably isnt the best idea, seeing as there are 6 Weisco pistons in it.
