I just bought a 2001 Crownline 180BR with the 4.3L engine. It currently has an aluminum 14dia and 23p prop on it. I am able to get to about 44mph @ 4k rpm's. I had a 95 Rinker captiva 190 with a 4.3L in it and was able to get to 52mph at 4800 rpm's. I'm not sure what the specs were on that prop and I sold that boat. I know my Crownline can do better, but I am in need of the prop experts to help recommend the proper propeller for my new boat.

Before you begin throwing money at props, why not make sure the engine is in a proper state of tune and making full power. Throttle cable adjustment is part of that process. If the throttle doesn't open all the way installing a new prop just empties your pocket and doesn't solve the issue. Obviously something is wrong if you only see 4,000 rpm. Logic says to get the revs to 4800 you need less pitch. But getting the rpm to 4800 does not mean you go faster. It means the prop is taking less bite on the water so rpm goes up and speed will likely go down. So You need to verify engine health first.

+1 what Silvertip said.........."assuming" your engine health is ok,, you can get the numbers you want with a prop change.. check engine first and reply..
