Rermote throttle dilemma

I am adding a trolling motor to a new 22' boat that uses an offshore or gil bracket to mount the motors. The deal so far on the boat is for an 8 hp Honda trolling motor with tiller control, rope start and the power thrust option. The dealer is going to install a tie bar so I can steer the kicker from the helm. He says on the motor you can set the throttle to maintain a certain speed. However I am still concerned about how I am going to be able to use the kicker's throttle since I'll be steering from the front and then would have to go back and reach over the gil bracket to give it more power which sound pretty cumbersome. There are many times when I troll that I have to adjust speed. I guess I need to ask him to upgrade me to a motor with the remote control box unless there is another way that it can be done with the tiller motor?

With my 15 Honda, the shop supplied a kit for fitting controls (usually retails about $80) It involved removing a plug on the cowl to route cables, and hooking up a few fittings. Ask your dealer if your 8 can be converted to remote.
