Resealing lower unit.

76 Johnson 115. I take it the internal casting behind the prop is taken out of the lower unit with a slide hammer? Attached to the two holes that are tapped in the casting? I just don't see another way. :confused:

The bearing housing does come out like you said, make sure you remove the bolts down inside the housing before you try to remove it. I normally use a puller, but I guess a slide hammer could be used.

Thanks! Yes, I forgot to mention I knew about the 4 bolts in the bearing housing. I wasn't sure if a puller was a good idea putting pressure on the prop shaft but glad to hear it does work! Thanks again!!!

Use a puller ... needs to be a really heavy duty non-jaw type puller. Don't worry about the prop shaft, the load is axial.
