im going thru same thing now got fustrated with it as i couldnt find anything online about it. let me guess the o ring was leaking? finally i took to a good repair shop near me they told me its a entire assembly and you have to buy the whole "rod assembly" its about 250.00. mind you before everyone else blows me up telling me it can come apart i tried for a week and no avail. i got aggrivated with it and thats why the repair shop has it now  i really trust this shop and have never done me wrong and always helped me out. sometimes for freebut keep us posted and good luck!!
Dont forget to check inside your cap for corrosion(where seals scraper and washer goes)If so chuck it and get a new one.Around $85, i shopped around and got for $57.
I think the book says not to remove the bottom starboard side.yep, about same corrosion as mine. After cleaning mine and putting back together my trim rods wont move...lol so now im trying to get those caps off to rebuild.
Fixing stuff is easy....getting it apart is the hard bit.
our summer is coming soon so im getting stressed about this damn TnT pump.
i bled it a few times and ram goes up and down no problem.trim rods dont move. Not back on boat yet so i was thinking maybe some load might get it to move.
Is yours working now?let me know how ya go.
If your corrosion is only minor where scraper seal goes, nothing to worry about, the scraper doesn't seal oil from getting out of cylinder, only keeps rod clean. The inner o-ring in head is what seals the oil, as long as that recess is in good shape, you're good to go. Check the rod for any scratches, if you can feel anything with you're finger nail don't put it back together, seal will leak again. Hydraulic shops should be able to rechrome that rod if needed.
Nice looking tool, whatever works to get her apart in one piece. Congrats
