Restoration Question

Now I know there are tons of threads here on this subject and I know what I'm doing, as I've done around 11 or 12 of them. My question to all is this: I've never seen anyone post about supporting the hull when the top cap is removed? Has no one here had problems with the hull loosing it's shape with the top cap off and floor removed? I have had this problem and learned to support the hull well before starting the restoration. I'd like to hear some feedback here.

Also, I'm starting a restoration of a 19' Astro, and if you'd like I'll post the step by steps of the project.

that's weird, most of the threads I've read here on the subject make mention of doing that with the hull...

Well you haven't done much reading or searcing then!!!! LOTS of comments here on the forum about this. Lot's of suggestions for using straps, braces, making cradles, leaving it on the trailer, taking measurements before removing the cap.... All sorts of things. Click the search button and widen your search words. You'll find em. Here's one to start with...

I've been reading too and seen quite a few 'restorations' just like that...un-supported gutting, a number of them sitting on a trailer, one was sitting on the ground with a few boards under it. Or adding obese weight by adding PT stringers and PT decks.
I did read one thread that 'wishes' he did some supporting first because he needed to use load straps to get the deck/cap to fit!
Those will be back asking why their boat won't plane or it takes too long to plane off. Or how to fix the 'new stress cracks'.

But I have seen a few really good setups, where people took the time to do it right.
