Restore fiberglass shine.

What do you recommend to bring a 10 year old Champion Bay boat finish back to new or as close to new as possible. Thanks.

rubbing compound, elbow grease, patience, followed by a good coat of wax.

Depends on what the reason is for not shining..... Is the finish oxidized and chalky? Is it just dull? What have you done so far?

Compound?
3M Fiberglass restore?
Vaseline?
Plain wax?
Wet sanding?

Good old rubbing compound and an electric polisher are a good start.

It is a dull finish and I haven't done anything yet. Was waiting for professional advice before beginning.

Start out by washing the boat down with Comet and a lot's of elbow grease.

Move to compound and an electric polisher (fairly cheap via Harbor Freight).

Move to a polishing compound.....

Then wax

It is a PITA but once it is done it should look real sharp.

If that method does not work....... you might be up against wet sanding.

Just for giggles ........ try to clean a spot with vaseline and see if that comes back to your satisfaction. Let us know.

I think so. I plan on using it this year. I have wetsanded about all I can.

I believe there are Many different common types of rubbing compound you can find ,and not very expensive,you can find them at you local hardware store
One product Ive found is #7 it come in different grits,heavy oxidation ,light and a polishing compound.used for Autos and fiberglass,,,One thing someone had said something about Harbour Freight,,yes 7 inch variable speed buffer,,,cheap and a must
buy some good pads,,I got mine from a auto paint supply joint and worked great Re Gary
