Re: restore gel coat
We use Hula Boat Care because it's specifically formulated for gel coat. You won't want to do this by hand. We ended up buying an electric polisher/waxer (around $150) and it will save you many hours and lots of strained muscles.
For a badly oxidized boat, I'd grab their compound (first application) and then the wax followed by protectant.
You'll find lots of products out there but our boat was 18 years old and the maroon paint looked pink and cloudy.
