I just today got my hands on a 1972 65 hp Johnson. She's old, but solid. I'll probably take her to a marine shop to do the carb job and water pump as I don't really have access to a shop or tools. I want to polish her up externally. Is there a special paint I need to use on the cowling? What about the shaft? The compression on all 3 cylinders is around 125. Once I've got the tune-up done, is there anything else I really need to check, or just take her out and fire her up? thanks for the site and the input!
blt
(I'm in Texas and I feel like Kojak, but I finally got all the proper paperwork from TPWD to get it titled!)

Plugs, thermostat & change the gear oil (new gaskets for fill & drain plug) should do it.
