restoring color

My boat has a silver "flake" paint on it that used to be very shiney. Now I think that the clear-coat or gel-coat (whatever they use on top of a paint job) is gone and the paint is now more of a grey color than a shiney metalic silver. Is there anything that I can do to bring back the color to this boat (besides painting)?

Thanks for any help given...

Re: restoring color

Nope :( it is a clear gelcoat that was used during production your only hope is, if it looks good when wet you can get by with just clear coating it with an automotive CC PPG's concept clear does a good job it is a high build clear coat NOTE do not use sand paper it will damage any exposed flake Scothbrite makes a 1000 grit scuff pad all ava. though an auto paint store Good luck
