Restoring Finish

I just bought a 1977 Monark fiberglass. The finish is in pretty good shape a few scratches but not bad. What are some good products out there. I'd like to avoid getting taken to the cleaners by flashy gimmics. My mom cleaned what I think was a fiberglass shower stall that I thought was beyond repair with karosine. Does anyone know if the finishes are comperable or hve any expierence with this. Thanks

3M make good products for that. the fiberglass restorer, then wax it up. a little pricey, but worth it.

Re: Restoring Finish

3m heavy duty marine rubbing compound works real good on my hull. different products work better on some hulls, kind of a trial and error thing.

if its real bad, you could wet sand it and follow up with compound and then wax.

lots of posts on this topic, search for wet sand might work

Is the 3M Rubbing Compound a 'finishing" step, or does it go after the oxidation, THEN needs a coat of wax?

Thx.

Re: Restoring Finish

as you know 3m makes what seems like millions of products. the one i mentioned is a rubbing compound that will take off a moderate haze. results look even better on my hull if it hit it with a polish before the wax. and, honestly, i'm too tired by the time i do all of that to wax. the wax will just get washed off anyway. i follow up with 303 uv protectant. it washes off too but is alot easier to apply than wax is. either one, if used regularly will work better than nothing.

3m also makes a product with finesse it incorporated, never tried it.
