Re: Restoring my boat!!!! Need Help!!!

boatman,
If your original gel coat is light color, try whatever restoration work you can without painting it. My boat I painted was a 17' Galaxy. Original gelcoat was red color it was impossible to restore to shine. Light gray and white are easier to polish. Even if you have to wet sand gelcoat, then do that. Avoid painting, unless you are sure 1005 you could put a lot of time and effort into surface prep.
What kind of boat is it?
If I was to do it again "Imron" it would be. I used single part polyurethane. Maybe 2 part is slightly better, but Imron will give you the strongest finish. Now I have a boat painted with Imron by a previous owner. That paint is great!.
In any case, see if it is possible to restore shine in gelcoat. Do not rush painting, as it will take a lot of time and work...
Good luck and welcome to IBOATS :)
