I don't do Rods,+ Chains to often,.. Something about 16' kept coming to mind though...

Since there are no rules to speak of why not put up a small fence and start raising animals there........

Put up rocks like suggested and put a warning sign near the rocks about snakes.......

Heard of a guy that had a problem with someone running over his hedge row bushes every so often just to be mean. He put some rebar rods in the ground to "help the bushes stand upgright" Stood up about 16 inches.

Next time the guy drove over his bushes they found out who it was just by following the oil trail about a mile to the truck with the burned up engine.

Get the county involved before you do any type of construction on the easement. Poles, rocks, bushes etc. My father got into issues when building a pond near the road. The county (we're talking the middle of nowhere, MS) said he needed a substantial fence to stop drunks and morons from driving into his pond and drowning. Not to protect them but to keep Billy Bob's mama from sueing pop cuz he put that pond there on purpose just to drown Billy Bob. Don't laugh, it's happened before. He told the county that he was just going to plant a row of trees and they said that that would be worse. Instant death and even more lawyers. They said if a tree was put there by mother nature, it was ok as you can't sue God. Yet. He wound up with a barbed wire fence with 10' telephone poles for posts sunk 5 feet into the ground into concrete every 6 feet with 8 strands of wire. Sounds like overkill but the county knew that this would stop a car and that pop could claim that it was there to keep livestock in. And he had their suggestions on paper just in case.

NoKlu hit it on the head. Get the county involved. Your taxes paid their salary and you've done about all you can at this point outside of doing something that would damage their vehicles. And if that happens, they'll sue you, they'll win and they'll still think that they can park in your yard.

If your deed and plat only show a utility easement, and there is no mention of an easement in the homeowner's association bylaws (if you are in one) then your neighbors are trespassing. Take a copy of your deed and plat and have a talk with the local law enforcement and ask them to have a word with the neighbors.

I had a similar problem with the neighbors kids across the street. My wife had a not to friendly talk with them and so far they've heeded her warning.

If they start doing it again they are going to find my F250 parked 2" from the rear bumper, and the front loader on the tractor parked 2" from the front bumper.

I had a house in rural WI where the town set the rules for what could be erected within a certain distance from the road. The reason was to prevent hazards too close to traffic and to prevent damage to snow plows. The setback was far enough that it would never prevent somone from parking between it and the road. I also had utility easments on my property. That does not give anyone else the right to access my property. If I had someone constantly parking in front of my house, I wouldn't undertake any expense to block the view or to attempt to restrict access. I'd call the sheriff and have them warned about trespassing. A second occurance would be dealt with by issuing a citation and towing the offending vehicle(s). I would have the sheriff's office number on speed dial.

My property had three neighbors mail boxes on it. One guy moved his closer to my driveway so he wouldn't have to get out to get his mail. WTF?!? It was 2 ft from my driveway. I dug it up and moved it back down to where the other's were located, at the edge of my property line. That was the end of that. People like that will step all over you if you let them. Address it fast and firmly IMO.

thanks for the responses. i've tried talking with the new neighbors, they have demanded a public right to park there...jumping and yelling at me that there's nothing i can do to make them get out of the easement (my yard). i should have just called the sheriff then.

i've tried subtle and am done with that.

Ok... How about this: get a lawyer, draft a bill. Send it to your neighbors. You are now charging for parking (in advance). Might as well make lemonade, if you can.

If they give you problems, put up a sign (make sure it says something about getting towed, owners expense, etc). Then have them towed the next time.

But... this probably won't help relations with your neighbors. They may be the type of people that kinda like to cause trouble, so you'll need to be vigilant from that point on. You know, if your dog sneezes at 10:01 they are on the phone to the sheriff, etc.

Oh, but you kinda have to do something about it. Check out the "extinguishment" clause in wikipedia.
