My father just bought his first ever boat. He is 78 and while I have owned boats for over 30 years, I cannot find in writing what I am looking for.
What I would like to find is a Pre-Launch check list and a Check list for after he is at the house.

I want it to be KISS for him and include everything that I or my Iboaters could think he needs to remember but at the same time keeping it short and easy to accomplish for him.

Does anyone know if this already exists and where i can find it to print or do ij ust need to make one up and give it to him.

I am thinking of something like this:

Put plug in.
Ensure motor is in up and locked position.
Full tank of fuel, mixed to 50:1
Batteries charged.
Coupler latched and locked.
lights plugged in and working,
etc....

Returning to th house:

Pull plug
close fuel vent
motor down, turned and greased
fuel line unplugged, carbs run dry
etc....

Speaking as an older guy, why do you think he needs this? How about a boating course; some lessons from you? and let him make his own notes:)
I have a daughter who worries too much about me. It's nice, but not necessary!

Treat your dad to a Power Squadron Safe Boating course, he will learn a lot of useful information, and check lists are included in the course. (See my sig.)

The best idea. Or any boat safety course for that matter. At 78 he isn't too old to learn and he'll learn far more than just pre or post launch procedures.
