Dunndidit :D no fish but fun. Just electric only. So no speed runs. Trolling motor worked great. Really going to like this setup this summer.

Alright congrats Nick! :clap2: Glad you got her out on the water today, the boat looks great and I bet will be a super fishing platform. :thumb:

Guess we're both batting zero on the early spring fishing.

I never doubted whether she was getting splashed today or not. I know you couldn't wait to get her out after all your work! Boat looks beautiful, great pictures! I'm jealous. I spent my day watching it snow on and off out the window.

Thanks guys for all the support and kind words. It really has been an exciting journey. I have gained a lot of knowledge and could not have done it without you guys.

Watermann yep batting zeros so far. I'm much better at trout fishing with these temps. Cool thing though was marking structure and stuff on graph for next time. I need to get more experience fishing deeper water for bass and other fish. I had stripers and catfish figured out in the desert but it's a whole different ballgame on the East Coast.

66Holiday924 I know the feeling another system is passing through this weekend and looks like the next sunny day will be in about 8 days.

Motorguide FW71B 24v system, 71# thrust. Max speed on 18 footer 3.55mph. Speed on lowest setting about 1.25mph in the wind. Baby has plenty of oomph for 18footer aluminum.

That's really fast for walleye trolling if you plan on it that is, are the speeds fixed? Around here it's .5 to .6 when colder and in the summer I run .7 to .8

That is an awesome looking boat.
i also like your trailer. I prefer them with the open back which helps eliminate contact with your boat since there is no rear cross member.

That's why I didn't catch any fish!!! Jk I've never actually trolled with my trolling motor. The speeds are set with a control dial at foot pedal. I just use it for navigation in tight and shallow areas while casting. I would like to learn more about trolling. Have a 9.9 Merc to hang on the back just gotta pick it up. Might slow me down a little.

Thanks MNhunter1 and M2HB .

If you go back to the beginning of my thread, I sold the untitled trailer it came with and got this off a huge searay glasser. It's way more than I need but makes a comfy tow. It tows great. Came along way since the first days of not even really knowing what I was looking at.

Well a few little issues came up. Short in starter relay was causing drain to battery even just sitting. New part was supposed to be here yesterday. Got motor fired up in driveway a few times and noticed tach wasn't moving. Trouble shot that and looks like rectifier and tach are bad? I tested with DVM based on yamaha service manual and faria guide. Faria said tach should have >2volts present across signal and ground when turned on. I got nothing but had 12v across +/-. So it wasn't a wiring issue. Then I tested rectifier and no continuity across ground circuits to green leads. Manual says that means it's bad? Weird it sits inside garage for 5 months and stuff fails. I guess more parts on the way....

Installed mosshawg on trolling motor. Pretty cool idea sharp bigger. Still got stuff to do but it will wait til I get a round tuit

It's amazing when one electrical part has a failure it seems to cascade, I would count myself as lucky it's the rectifier, they're pretty cheap compared to switch boxes, power packs and stators.

Yeah you're not lying!! CDI box retails at $600  should be ready for a main motor splash sometime next week if weather would cooperate. Still spitting snow.

Not much done today. Cold and windy. Did put on new prop. Opened box to starter relay, vendor sent wrong one. Had to reorder. Hope its here Saturday or Monday at the latest. Maybe big motor splash next week. Tested out Mosshawg yesterday at electric only lake. Worked great no weeds on prop. No fish still. Water not quite 55° yet. Hooked one but spit hook before boated.
