how many of ya's have reused the bearings and or rod bolts and had a failure likely caused by this?

and more importantly, how many have done this and gotten away with it?

I was going to reuse and then got scared. Now I'm getting new. The parts, once cleaned, look brand new. Seems like a shame to throw away.

got a yamaha 2 stroke 150 and I'm also going to assembly this myself. This is my first assembly like this and so it's kind of a trial go and it's been kinda fun. Was thinking maybe I should use the old parts first and save the new ones for when I have to do it again!

If you have spent the money and TIME to rebuild an engine, there is absolutely no reason to go cheap and try to reuse bearings.

my personall belief is re-using engine bearings and rings is like re-using a soiled diaper. you just dont do it.

now if this is a 2-stroke with needle bearings and everything is clean, you can try to chance it, however I wouldnt.
