Re: rev counter

I show that as a 1994 military model, so it will depend on the setup. Do you have electric start and a rectifier for charging? If so, you should be able to attach a standard OMC/BRP, Teleflex or Faria tachometer. Do you have a remote control or are you using a tiller?

Re: rev counter

That,s right Ezeke -
It,s the electric start with remote steering model, & it has the charging system. I aint great with electrics, but would like to have a counter fitted,if at all possible.
Where would it be wired into????
Thanks, DAVY

Re: rev counter

If you have a side-mounted remote, it may have a tach plug below the ignition switch with three wires -?

Re: rev counter

Thanks lads,
Yes, it,s a Tacho.......
I,m looking at a universal Faria tacho (FAR-TC9013) - will this be OK??
Ezeke - the side mount does indeed have the 3 pin socket marked a,b & c...so that,s where one end goes then:D
At the motor end, I,m assuming one is a ground, another connects to the grey wire.....where does the third one go????

Thanks, DAVY.

Or...do I just need to connect the tachs wiring to the 3 pin connector on the remote????

Re: rev counter

The main wiring from the tach will go to the plug on the control if you have the tachometer harness. If you do not have it, you can buy one or figure out an alternative wiring scheme.

The plug is wired for positive (purple), negative ground (black), and signal (gray). Black and purple come from the ignition switch and the gray wire runs from the engine terminal block.

To add light, you connect a blue wire to one of the other blue gauge light wires running from your light switch. See the wiring diagram near the end of the following thread for more graphic description of the control wiring:

I don't know if Faria has a harness. The Teleflex harness that fits the plug is Part number IH14767. The OMC/BRP tachometer kits for your motor came with the harness.
