Reverse Hook Lever

hey guys...1967 mercruiser 1A ez-shift model. This model has a lever on the bellhousing to lock the drive down so the prop won't pop up in reverse. Well its not working seems frozen. I looked thru the manuals and can't really find any info on it.

Anyone worked with these? or know how to rig up something to keep the drive down when in reverse if this can't be fixed? Ideas?

if your talking about the old turnbuckel you'll probably have to fabricate your own out of threaded rod or something.
