Ok I have had this problem just crop up, now I should just do some research and check out if there is an adjustment for this..... however I will just ask instead. I adjusted the motors trim setting by moving up the pin one hole on the transom mount (bottom hole to next hole up) and now a couple of times, when backing out from the dock, the motor has popped up. Now this never occured before, I moved the pin. I've looked and everything seems alright, the pin is straight, the lock mech moves up in Forward, and moves to the lock position in N and R. I have observed this with the motor up. The first time it happend I pull the boat out of the water, and went through the sequence with the motor down, and she locked right down. I have not found any thing stopping the motor from "seating' right down in the transom bracket, so I am at a bit of a loss, unless there is some adjustment, for this problem.
