I just got a new (to me) pontoon boat with about a 1987 year model 45hp Mariner outboard. The motor does not have power tilt/trim. I brought it home today and lowered the motor and when I did, I couldn't get the reverse lock thingy to lock onto the pin that it's supposed to lock onto. It locked the last time I lowered the unit. Am I missing something that would keep this from latching onto the pin? Also, when it's locked, do you have to remove the pin to unlock it and raise the motor or is there a way to unlock the reverse lock without removing the pin?
