the wires on my outdrive position sensers are trashed what is the best way to run new wires without total teardown of outdrive? my gauge is always on the up position and yesterday i found out the wires were completely rotted from juntion box to the sensers. could i hook new wires to old ones and pull them threw or will this cause me to have a leak. congrats on don s keep up the good work!!

Pretty Tough Question to Answer without knowing What drive you have,........

If it's a Merc.....Your "Plan" Won't Work......

Even IF it Could be Done,...... Leakage would No Doubt be an Issue........
I Doubt that it can be done without pulling the Bellhousing.....

I have drilled a 1/4 in.hole in the upper, starboard side o the transom housing as close to the transom as possible (through the thin part of the housing)and routed the wires through that and either a hole drilled in transom above the waterline(with sealer n clamshell)or through an existing speedo hose or transducer wire hole. Ittsa option, only did it cause I could not git the wires out the original route.

Re: rewirering outdrive position sencers

When I bought my boat the trim sensors had been replaced and the wires were passed through holes in the transom (above the waterline). I wasn't very happy about it and replaced and rerouted them correctly. I didn't like the idea of exposing the internals of the transom to water. Water is incredibly pervasive and can get into the smallest of places. Once there it does a lot of damage.

WW, I agree there are already too many holes in my transom.
