I have seven wires to wire up to a five post ignition without the help of a wiring code.
The five posts on the back of the new ignition are:
B - Battery
M - Magneto Circuit
M - Magneto Circuit
S - Solenoid
A - Ignition Circuit

The seven wires coming from my 1969 Evinrude 40 HP outboard 40952R are:
(1)Brown - already connected to hot light on dash and not ignition.
(1) Purple - already connected to push choke button on dash and not ignition, however new purple wire coming from the choke needs to be wired to one of the posts.
(2) Black - I assume would go one each to the 2 magneto circuit posts?
(2) White - the end of one white wire was crimped off and not connected? I assume the one white wire would go to the solenoid post?
(1) Red - I assume needs to go to the ignition battery post.

Does anyone have a wiring color code or can give me an educated guess on how I should connect the purple black and white wires to the back of the ignition posts? Thanks.

"A" is for accessories.

Red wire to B
White wire to S
Brown wire is not used unless you have a generator.
TAN sensor wire to hot light
two black wires to two M
Ok, there are 3 purple wires on the A terminal. The go to the hot light, the choke switch, and oooops, never mind, only two purple. The 3rd would be for for electric shift--if you had one.
Other choke switch wire is red & purple stripe.

All wires connected to the ignition switch should have ring terminals for the screws.
