Rheostat for ballast bypass LED T8s?

I just retrofitted some SATCO dimmable LED T8s into a Children's Museum. They are now wired directly to line voltage, and the ballasts are gone. Question: Can I use a regular old rheostat to dim them? They only draw 14w each and the 5000K color is outstanding BTW.

That should work (never tried) since there listed as dimmable. Maybe best to ask the manufacture of bulb or place where they where bought
