Thats what we're doing to our '74 Lund. UV resistant, durable and waterproof. just make sure to put scupper holes for water to reach the bilge.

Wait!! Did you say instead of epoxy and resin????

What kind of boat? What type of floor? I have heard that the floors of aluminum boats have used bed liner and some people have used it on wood for non-slip.

It is usually black (Black=HOT) and I do not thing it provides any value in structual use.

More detail needed.

It's a 1987 century mustang ski boat. 120 h.p. I have to replace the floor so, I was thinking of taking the old floor out and use it as a pattern, cut the new pieces, then just coat the new wood pices all cut out with rhino lining. attach them them, put carpet over it (this is my first boat and I'm new to all this stuff)

Fiberglass adds strength to the boat I think you'd want to tie in the fiberglass from the floor to the sides of the hull near the floor. Was the floor rotted? how are your stringers? have you checked them for rot too? Just bite the bullet, and fiberglass it. I suppose you could spray on the rino liner onto the glass after its done, but m court 15 has a point dark color retains heat.

Re: rhino line the floor?

what says it has to be black? nothing. many different companys make different colors including white and light tan. as for structural value we dont need it. we are planning to put it on top of the plywood floor. we are using it instead of carpet or other floor coverings. the boat originally had the plywood with vinyl.

Bassboy, The "structural value" is in the glass,,not so much the plywood. My boat, as well as 99% of all boat's decks are plywood, and I'll bet they have at least 2 layers of fiberglass including yours. And m court, you didn't mention the condition of your stringers. Do you know how to check for rot using a screw driver, or ice pick? Usually with a bad deck comes some bad stringers.

My boat did not have one bit of fiberglass on it. Never had and never will. Only had plywood and vinyl. We are using the rhino lining in place of the vinyl

Yep, I would replace the floor, glass it in, then use whatever you want on the top.

I did some more research on fiberglass boats. Glass the floor then put the rhino lining on top. It will protect the fiberglass so the floor will last a little longer

dmarkvid2 all the stringers and things are fine it's just a few softspots in a couple places, it's spread out though, so I'm just going to replace the whole floor.

Re: rhino line the floor?

If your against carpet, I'd use marine vinyl. Several have recommended this, it's one piece, drains well and is made for boats. I've heard nightmares abotu Rhino, they can blister and the only way to remove is slow and labor intensive. It's a gooey mess. Try this site for the vinyl. Come UV resistant light colors so it's not too hot!

Check out all the options under Marine Vinyl, Nautolex vinyl flooring, this looks a lot like rhino, has texture so you don't bust your a**. I'll bet it's a ton lighter and if you ever need to get under the stuff it will be a far cry eaiser than digging out Rhino liner!

BTW the vinyl is after you glass it in, but it seems you've already concluded this.

I'm thinking of useing it to cover the floors and fishing decks in my bass boat. You can get it in any color you want. It does not have to be black.

Re: rhino line the floor?

If you do use rhino line be sure that you have drain holes so that any water in the boat can reach the bilge. I have used this stuff on my truck and now every time it rains water will build up in the bed until i let the tailgate down. Second One thing to know about rhino it is only guaranteed by the dealer who puts it in. If you to move by some chance they will not cover the warranty. Third and most important when using this stuff in a boat is weight. I know just on my tailgate it added about 5 pounds. so be careful. Last thing is you have to be really careful who you let do it. Not a lot of people who spray this stuff on knows how to do it right. I had to get my truck done twice. If don't wrong it will leave anything that touches it black. If i were you i would also look into linex- brand. i have seen a few trucks done in this and the are way better looking than any rhino brand i have seen. just a few things to think about.
