I am thinking of using some kind of spray in bed liner on the inside of my jon boat. I use it for duck hunting and fishing. I was wondering if anyone else has had any good results from any of the do it yourself spray in kits.

I have read of a couple of others that have used it. If memory serves they liked it.
I know it holds a lot of the water in the bed of my truck...

I have experience with DIY kits, just not in a boat...I used Herculiner on my fiberglass Jeep top about 6 years ago. It has held up like iron.

Re: Rhino lining jon boat

I was considering doing my FJ Cruiser, a few guy's on the FJ Cruiser Forum have done it & it looks really cool & has a lifetime warranty, so if it ever chips, free fix. If you do a lot of Off-Roading like I do, you tend to scratch up the paint quite a bit. When I had posted that I was thinking about getting prices, one of the guy's said that it will add a lot of weight to the overall truck, so what I'm saying is, if their worried about the added weight of this stuff on a truck, I would not think it was a great choice for a boat. I'm not 100%, but I would ask around about the weight factor before you do it. Come to think of it.... It would look cool on my Bayliner bowrider.......If you do end up doing it post a picture, I'd like to see it.

I did the bumpers on my truck and it held up great, I thought it would work well in my jon boat also, but didn't do it, because as said above, it will add a lot of weight and weight is the enemy in a small boat.

What ever the kit weighs--is the added weight.Couldn't be any heavier than a trolling battery--could it ??

Just an FYI, Cabelas sells a product called Tuff Coat - it's similar to rhino lining but comes in dull finish camo colors. Might be worth a look if you are concerned about camoflauge.

If you want colors in a DIY kit, check out Grizzly Grip. I know people who have done their Jeep interiors with success.

I've seen do it yourself kits and were not impressed. Especially in beds of trucks. They arent very thick and rub off quickly. The comercial grade is put on much thicker, but it'll cost more than the boat. If you are going to try the do it your self kits, surface prep is the key for good adhesion. Got to be super clean, maybe even a bit rough. Aluminum has alot of "flex" in it, so I am not sure if you would be happy. But I have never tried it so others that have, may chime in...

I'd not want a black interior, too hot. If you want bed liner look at Vpol Raptor. That's pretty good stuff. I think a lot of folks also use the Home Depot/Lowes garage floor epoxy. That can be had in any color and is supposed to hold up well.
