I never paid attention but that husqvarna mower I bought has 1977 hours in it. This came close to be used every weekday. Ot was built in 3-35-2004. The model is YTH1342XPA. That sounds high to me but what do you guys think? I have been working on the deck which is what needs attention. I have to change the spindles and the housing. That is 80.00 with shipping and it should be working. There are a screw missing here and there but other than that it works great. Right now the kids are using it as a rider just to drive around. Lol!
Thanks!

Mower should be well worth the fix. If you dont know you shouldnt ever try to oil the spindle bearings because it will ruin them unless the instructions say its ok.

I have an early 80?s 682 Cub with a hydro-static drive that has at least 2,285hours on its second motor. Rebuilt the deck and gave the tractor a once over (new wheel bearing, etc.) 10 years ago and never looked back.

Debating whether or not I?ll get a new tractor with this motor dies or just rebuild the motor and put another 2500 hours on it.

Sounds like it was used commercially or on a BIG lawn. Just as reference, my 2005 tractor used to cut two medium size lawns has 65 hours on it. If it runs OK, just go with it though.

That's about 10 hours a week. A little over domestic use, but not much.

Don't mean to sound like a nanny, but letting kids use a ridding mower as a go cart is not a great idea.

Every kid here use the riding mower to do the lawn. So they are just practicing... You should see them go with the scooter... way faster...

Older, more responsible kids are not a huge issue using the tractor, its the littler ones who don't always think that are the issue. If a small kid thinks of the tractor as a toy, they don't know the difference between a go cart ride where the blade is not engaged and when the mower is being used for real.
That's why is always bothers me to see a parent cutting the lawn with a 4 year old on their lap.

There are plenty of accidents with these each year from "dumb kids" I was one of those a long time ago. My parents have to live with that now.

Btw, the kids are 13 and 16. I won't let them ride unless I'm outside but I'm not watching them 100 percent of the time. They have a scooter at their grandma, that one is way faster. They been riding that for about 4 years now.

1977 is a lot. My guess is that it is 197.7 average use for homeowners is 30-50 per year here in Il.

Grass grow here almost all year long. I still think it high but he told me he had a mowing business so I'm not surprised it was used commercially.
