Just got a new 2004 Yamaha 90 2 stroke for my 17 Boston Whaler, It had a Evinrude 90. The boat has a Morse (teleflex Control) I have the following gauges and switches on the boat
Tach
Trim Gauge
Hour meter
Volt meter
I have a seperate trim switch that I rigged up not on the original Mores handle (it broke)Theres a nutral switch in the Morse control.

I have the following with the new motor

Key switch with kill switch 794 82570 08 00
10 Pin harness 6X3 8258A 00 00.

Now checking it all out. It would seem I can hook up the nutral switch in the Morse control with the 2 brown 1 black wires from the new harness / hook up the teleflex cables to the new motor and be off (without gauges)

If I am correct a second harness is needed for the trim gauge and oil gauge? Which If using Yamaha gauges go to the gauges or the digital Tach combo gauge

I see digital tachs on Iboats but there's two of them a 6YRW0035 E0 00 for 232 dollars with 22 ft harness for the trim and oil ,and another thats 6Y5 8350T 81 00 for about 335 dollars and it needs another 130 dollar harness for the oil and trim gauge part. Whats the difference between these two digital tachs? Both look the same. They are both in the Yamaha parts section

Should I go with the Yamaha 704 control? I see a 6 pin plug on the new wire harness..the color codes should be that of the nutral switch and trim switch, I should just be able to plug this in I take it. I guess I would need the Yamaha cables for the 704 control.

I ordered and got the Yamaha factory manual for this 90C motor 75 dollars with 2nd day delivery. It came quick however I was real suprised as to how little info it has.. nothing about this stuff only a wire schematic thats of any help.. A far different bird then my old Evinrude factory manual which really details everything! I have heard good things about the Yamaha motor.
