Snapped the bleed screw on the trailer brakes(drum) Question is is it the right or left side? The wheel is under the port side of the boat as it sits on the trailer. OK that's the dumb question out of the way. Observation on the oil bath hubs is that I think I have to take off the 2 3/8" plastic cap to get the brake drum off. That's a big socket! I think tapping a dust cup off would be much easier. You know, like the good ol' days

Thanks

That would be left BUT a wheel cylinder is about 1/2 the price of a compleat new brake set So be sure the adjuster is also not frozen

I allways take apart and prep a new set with merc 2-4-C grease on the threads and inside the rubber cap on the cylinder to keep it from sticking

Thanks Tom! The trailer is only 2 years old and I flush the brakes out every time. I can get a new cylinder for about $40. Depending how it looks, I may just get the entire kit. Oh and success, I got the plastic cap off with large slip joint pliers. Luckily it's wasn't or isn't on super tight.

You can buy a sheet metal hub nut wrench (socket actually) for under $25 at the local auto supply store. It beats buying a ne set of caps. If you are like me you will only break the cap just before the big trip when you will have to wait for the new ones to be ordred in as the last one was sold just before you go there,
