I just re-powered my 19 foot Bayliner CC with a 150 HP Mercury Optimax. WOW! What a change from my old 120 HP Force. I used the Mercury sizing program and picked up a 19 pitch Vengence prop. It gets me up fine and hits over 45 MPH but my WOT is only 5000. This is after doing the recommended break in period (I have 14 hours now). Should I go to a 17 pitch or should I do a smaller diameter and stay at 19P?

How's it set up? You're always better off to max out the set up with what you have before spending $$ on another prop. Going to less pitch simply to gain rpm is a very last resort.

If the motor is mounted all the way down on the transom it might be a good idea to raise it and see what the gains are. Assuming of course the prop is in as new condition.

The motor is set about 1.5 inches above the transome and this has the cavitation plate dead even with the bottom V. Can the motor be raised above this? I will take a look at the mechanical stuff to see about raising. Thank you very much for the new idea!
