I have a 15' starcraft jet with a 1961 40 hp johnson. My current prop is in terrible shape. Its been bent in the past, and Ive repaired it myself. It has a pitch of 13" and goes top speed of 26mph. I want a new prop but dont know what pitch I should get. Is 13 about right or should I get higher/lower. I have a old prop that's in good shape but its spun and its a 14"pitch. I could just get that rebuilt. As for the performance I want.. I think I'm like most people and just want a good all around prop.. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

You shouldn't make any prop changes without a tach and a speed by GPS if possible. The motor came with a 13 1/4" pitch but the final selection would depend on the application.I would say the 13 1/4 or a 13 would be close unless you run heavily loaded.I feel the 14 would be too much. You might be able to have the 14 repitched if it seems cost effective. They also may be able to repair the 13 again if it seems cost effective.
